Best locations to PHOTOGRAPH / watch the sunset in long island!

5) smith point county park

The view from underneath the bridge in Smith Point County Park gives the good vibes in my opinion. It’s very low-key spot, not a lot of people go under the bridge, not a lot of people even think you can go under the bridge. You can also use the log as a chair, not very comfy but it is what it is. Imagine sitting on the log, with your friends, playing the guitar, with some Sushi or Chinese food? That’s life right there! Oh and before I forget, bring a mosquito repellent spray, just incase!

4) SATterly Landing

This park is right off Shore Rd in Mt. Sinai. It’s a small park, but it’s always packed in the afternoon. I would suggest go a bit earlier and stay a lil’ longer to watch the sunset. If you have a kayak, you’re gonna love this place even more. I wouldn't suggest having a picnic at this place though, there’s no chairs/tables available, there’s not much soft ground available, the area is tight as well. Okay, maybe you could bring something small, but that’s it!

3) 67 steps beach

Soooo, supposedly this park is only for Southold Residents… I know, such a bummer. I learned it the hard way with my $85 parking ticket. I mean the beach is really beautiful though, so I kinda thought of the ticket as an entrance fee. A really expensive entrance fee. There’s two ways you can beat the system. 1) Never leave your car unattended, you guys can take turns on the beach. Take some flicks for the gram then boom, next person! 2) Or you can park your car a mile away, near the Marina and then walk towards the beach. I would like to remind you, that’s a 2 mile walk, roundtrip. Which is not that bad but if you’re bringing your grandparents, walking might not be a great idea.

2) Pirates COve

There’s only 6 parking spots!!! Once you arrive and you see that the parking spots are filled, just wait, unless you want a $75 ticket haha! Despite what people say, you can’t just park on the side of the road, they will fine you! If you don’t want to fight for a parking spot, you’re gonna have to come about 2-3hours earlier. If sunset is at 5:30 p.m. then you have to pull up at 3:30, the very latest. You get lucky sometimes with the parking though! One time, I showed up like 15 minutes before sunset, luckily someone had to leave. I asked him, “You’re really gonna leave before the party starts?” he replied, “I have to take a sh—!” You fill the rest LOL. But yeah, come early and make sure your stomach/bladder is empty too.

1) Camp hero STate park

I should’ve put “These stunts are performed by trained professionals, don't try this at home” JKJK HAHAHA! Anyways, the best view of the lighthouse is not at the lighthouse but at Camp Hero State Park, same idea as, if you want to see the best views of Manhattan skyline, you don’t go to Time Square. You have to get out of the city to see the skyline. Same logic can be applied here haha! Everyone goes straight to the lighthouse, which is just boring in my opinion. Trust me folks, Camp Hero is where its at! I once had a picnic here and gosh, it was very nice. Sushi came flying though because it was a bit windy. The park is also low-key, which is nice. Also be careful while taking pictures, there’s no railings or guardrails on the cliffs, think of it as “enter at your own risk” kinda thing.
